Enter The New Titans of Mobile: Nike and Apple

The old guard have been left standing knee deep in their own hubris, while the new kids on the block are sprinting away with not only the devices of the future, but also the lifestyle to go with. Enter the new guard: Nike + Apple.

With last month’s news of the iPhone sending seismic shock waves through the mobile industry, this week we hear of Nike’s new HTC delivering ground shaking aftershocks. Their secret: mobile is about movement.

Add to this the great synergy found in the Nike + system where iPods and running shoes sync and where friends road race friends over the Net. Check out this YouTube video:

Now just imagine Nike + without the need to use a computer or an iPod — just the new HTC handsets (or an iPhone) linking to the Internet, and connecting with your music and your fellow runners. That should be enough to get all you road racers hot and sweaty.
