This eco-friendly airplane of the future, just an idea at this point, was designed by the CleanEra project, led by Etnel Straatsma of Delft University of Technology in The Netherlands (via LiveScience).

Everyone is looking for a breakthrough, a radical new aircraft design — something with ultra-efficiency and operational capability beyond our 20th Century legacy.
